Pierre-Joseph Redouté (1759–1840) was born into a Belgian family of painters and spent half a century teaching French royalty how to hold a pencil while churning out opulent, aristocrat-funded masterpieces. His style? A flawless mix of elegance and botanical perfection that made the rose his forever muse.
